Wasatch Transportation began operations 30 years ago with a vision of being able to bring an entirely new level of service to the special needs student population at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind (USDB).
Wasatch Transportation started at a time when outsourced transportation in a district was rare. The Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind was an early pioneer in Public/Private school transportation services in Utah. The issue early on was there were not many qualified transportation providers. In fact, some of the children were actually being delivered to school in taxicabs because other more suitable transportation was not available. Wasatch was hired to cure the USDB transportation crisis. Today, over 50% of districts in the US have acquired contracted bus services or are contemplating the RFP process in order to control costs and place the most money possible into the students’ education by getting the best value from allocated transportation funds.
There are many stakeholders involved in student transportation. The needs of all the stakeholders involved, including student/parental wishes, principle/director requests, USDB requirements and the overall desired results at the Agency level, with regard to student transportation, can be met with the critical balance of experience and expertise brought to this RFP by Wasatch Transportation.
Through the process of actually operating a transportation company in Utah, Wasatch has proven that it has the: history, background, knowledge, experience, and expertise to provide the anticipated high-level transportation service. Importantly we are also dedicated to adhering to the USDB Mission Statement “… …and to provide resources and enrichment activities for them and for their families (so they can achieve their full academic, social, and career potential).”
